Today I was reminded I have a blogspot blog with about three posts on it, the first post being from 2013. Google sent me some email about the blog, reminding me I had it and I went to look at it and it hit me in the feels.
I wasn’t nostalgic for my old blogspot blog. I didn’t do anything with it. But I am nostalgic for the old web where blogspot blogs were all over the place and filled with people baring their souls for anybody who happened to stumble across their blogspot domain.
It was a pure-hearted blogging. I wonder what the most popular blogspot blog is–the blog that still has .blogspot in it’s domain name. Do you think there are any still going strong? I’d like to think so, but I couldn’t find any and I don’t really know how I can find any. None of them will show up in Google search results. It’s increasingly hard to stumble upon them, which makes me sad.
The internet has largely moved on from them and there is no going back. Hopefully, Google never sunsets the service and they keep them forever as a relic for the early 2000s internet.
I’m tempted to start blogging every now and then on my old blogspot blog, but I’m worried it would distract me from my current mission of building up this blog and finishing my novel. It’s probably best if I stay away from it, to be honest.
The positive thing about me browsing through my old blogspot blog and a couple others I found was that my motivation to build out this blog is renewed. Because there without a doubt peak internet was when blogging ruled supreme!
