Haven’t you heard? Blogging is dead (again), but this time it is absolutely for real no take backs 100% dead and there is a 0% chance it will make a comeback. I’m writing this post to let all the people who visit this blog know that it, along with the other 600+ million blogs in the world, is dead, or at least gonna be dead because that’s what I heard some guy with the user handle on Twitter ButtManBuns676767 say, so it must be a real thing.
I have also heard many former disgruntled bloggers saying blogging is dead. They say it is dead because their articles (that are often up to 500 words long!) with such genius titles as “5 Things To Do In Florida” with solid recommendations like Theme Park, The Beach, Stay At A Hotel, See Alligator, The Beach. How could anybody resist such a well-thought, insightful article? Honestly, you were probably clicking around on the screen hoping I had linked to it. (Sorry, I hadn’t).
Yup, blogs have been killed by MySpace, Friendster, AOL Instant Message, Google+, Periscope, Orkut, Bebo, Yik Yak, Meerkat, Friend Feed, Six Degrees, Fotolog, Daily Booth, Friends Reunited, 43 Things, among others. How is the humble blog supposed to compete against these internet behemoths with big Silicon Money behind them? I don’t see any reality in which all those mega services fail and blogs survive. Sorry, just not happening.
Will AI Kill Blogs? What About Horses?
And now with AI, just as the internet killed books, AI is going to kill blogs. There is no hope. I struggle to type these words for this blog post because of the futility in it. What’s the point?
In my blogging, I feel like I’m advocating for horses in the age of the car. Nevermind there is a city, Ocala, up the road from me that does $4.3 billion in horse business per year. Across the world the horse business generates $300 billion a year. Obviously, like blogging, there’s no money in it anymore. Bloggers and horses should give up. How could anybody hope to make a living in a $4.3 billions per year industry. I, for one, don’t see how that would be possible.
Blogging is projected to do $107 billion in 2026. Geez, might be time to throw in the towel since my goal is to make $10,000 per month from my blogging, it certainly doesn’t look like there will even be enough blog money floating around for me to reach my goal. Sad.
Speaking of money, where do bloggers send the money back that they made from blogging, since, you know, blogging is dead? Do we send it to the haters that have predicted the death of blogging since 2005? I’ll have to look into this more since blogging is dead.
Oh, by the way, happy April Fool’s day.
Blogging Is Not Dead And Won’t Be Dead Until Maybe 500 Years From Now (But Probably Not Then Either)
In the meantime, I will be blogging like a madman to 1.) provide readers with the information they want and 2.) to earn financial freedom for me and my family and 3.) have the option to be location independent, able to go wherever we want as long as there is an internet connection nearby (much easier these days now that Starlink is a thing).
Let’s remind ourselves of what we need to do to win the blogging game.
How To Overcome “Blogging Is Dead” Mentality And Win Big
Aim For Making $10,000 Per Month In my humble opinion $10k per month is what every blogger needs to shoot for. This is the minimum amount to quit the 9 – 5 with a margin for error and to be free. Anything less I’d feel less confident about unless I was a single man moving to Thailand for the geoarbitrage, which is definitely a play if that is your situation.
It’s Never The Right Time To Start A Blog So you might as well start one now. While it is possible to make the $10k goal from a single blog, I think the higher probability play is to have multiple blogs (anywhere from 5 to 50) that will all add up to the desired income level, plus this diversifies your income, making a safer situation. Personally, I’m aiming for about 10 total blogs (some more active than others) that will generate the income level I need to set my family free.
Sometimes You Take Your Blogging Shot And Fail That is okay. I have about half-a-dozen failed blogs in my wake, and I learned valuable lessons from each failure. Surely you’ve heard the term “fail forward.” Yeah, the term has reached cringe status, but it’s true. Keep building and, before you know it, you will find the correct combination of blogs for you. They’re out there. You just need to find them.
You Will Need To Overcome Blogging Hopelessness Every single blogger–yes, even the uber successful ones–have felt hopeless in the beginning stages of their blogging careers and it seems impossible to reach success. But they kept pushing and eventually they had a breakthrough. That’s what will happen to you if you keep pushing, pushing, and pushing. Don’t give up!
The Key To Winning The Blogging Game Is outrageous optimism You must cultivate an attitude of outrageous optimism. Everybody likes hanging out with optimists because they are the people that make things happen because they believe. Outrageous optimism for the future of your blog is key. Start building it up if you don’t have it!
Become Obsessed With You Blog Only those who are absolutely obsessed with their blogs are gonna win. If blogging is a hobby in the same way as learning guitar is a hobby you’re not gonna make it. The blog business must be treated as serious as a business, even if you can only work on it outside of your 9 – 5 job. Obsess over it. Think about it. Constantly make it better.
The Time To Start A Blog Is Now The new Golden Age of Blogging is right around the corner, I believe it will be here in 3 – 5 years. You MUST start to get yourself in position now. This means launching that blog you’ve been thinking about and getting to work. Big rewards are coming for serious bloggers, they just have to be patient for 3 – 5 years. I’ll see you there, friend!
Is Blogging Dead?
No, not even remotely. There are tons of bloggers out there quietly making full-time livings from their laptops, living their best lives because they have been freed by their blogs.
Blogging is not dead. It will never be dead within our lifetimes and I suspect it will continue to zip along successfully for another 500 years at least, all the while people will be asking “Is Blogging Dead?”
Let people continuously ask that question. Let people continuously say blogging is dead. No skin off my nose. Makes less competition, although I don’t mind competition because I believe a rising tide ultimately lifts all boats. Meanwhile, we will be quietly blogging our way to freedom.
I’ll see you on the other side, friend. Blog on!
