600 – 700 Million Blogs Exist. Why That’s Good For Your Blog.

Yes, there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 – 700 million blogs in existence in the world and that’s good for your blog. Maybe it seems daunting. “How do I stand out? How do I become successful with all that competition?”

Fair questions, to be sure. First, let’s look at some stats:

Restaurants: There are between 11.8 to 15 million restaurants in the world.

Physical Retail Stores: Nobody knows how many brick and mortar retail stores exist. There are over a million in USA. Worldwide it’s estimated to be in the “10s of millions” which is a pretty wide range. Regardless, there is a lot.

Vehicles: There are somewhere between 1.47 to 1.50 billion vehicles in the world.

Above are just a few examples I quickly pulled up. Despite millions and millions of these items in existence, would you say that any of them are “saturated.” If I asked you if you thought it was possible to open a physical retail store and make profit, you’d say yes despite the large amounts of retailers worldwide.

The 600 – 700 million blog number would be significantly cut down if we filtered just for 1.) blogs that are active. 2.) blogs that have a goal of making money.

I don’t know exactly what that number would be, there is no way to know, but I expect it is significantly below 600 – 700 million. Less than 100 million? I would think so.

There Are Less Blogs Than You Think But More Blogs Than Ever Before

And that’s a good thing. A return to blogging is happening before our very eyes. People are tiring of the toxic social media platforms. When was the last time you logged off a social media platform and didn’t feel a bit of disgust and regret at wasted time?

For me, that’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 90%. However, I don’t have that feeling when I look at blogs? Why?

The blog algorithm doesn’t keep on feeding you new articles to keep you hooked–there is no blog algorithm. Doesn’t that sound nice? That there’s not even an algorithm to get trapped in? It doesn’t become an endless scroll. There is the beginning of the article, the middle, and the end. Then it is done. You can click around on a blog to find more articles, but you don’t feel compelled to do so.

There are more blogs than ever before because there are more readers than ever before.

“There Is No Way Blogs Will Overcome The Social Media Juggernaut”

Social Media will always be here. But so will blogging. Let me show you another example. Of the major American sports leagues, NFL is considered the most popular by far. It is considered the “New American Pastime,” overtaking boring baseball.

Total NFL 2025 Season Attendance: 18.78 million

Total MLB 2025 Season Attendance: 71.4 million

It’s not even close! MLB attendance whollops NFL attendance, and it happened quietly. While social media is flashy, blogs are dependable and are a quiet juggernaut like baseball. And like baseball, blogs have a lot of quiet fans quietly searching for new blogs. Give the people what they want!

“How Are More Blogs Good For My Blog, Exactly?”

Because you are writing a good, high-quality blog that easily stands head and shoulders taller than the rest of the blogs–your blog will stand out like a sore thumb!

And as your blog kicks butt the other blogs will start linking to you, essentially creating a massive funnel to your blog. So you gotta get yourself in position with a blog that is great, and to do that all you gotta to do is give your blog everything you have in the tank. Then you will win!

There is a demand for good blogs at this very moment and I can see an enormous wave off in the distance that is coming in. That wave is audiences returning to blogs enmasse. The trickled and gentle waves have started, but the tidal wave is coming and you absolutely need to position yourself to catch that wave, which is exactly what I am doing. I want you to catch that wave too. If you miss the wave there will still be blogging opportunities, but nothing like the one that is coming. I urge you to get started.

“How Do I Catch The Tidal Blogging Wave?”

You start by building now. Start by building a blog in a niche that makes sense for you. I always recommend to play to your strengths rather than your interests for blogging success. For most of us, our biggest strength is the skill set we gained from our day job. That’s boring, I know. But that’s probably what you should be blogging about, but find the right angle, the right approach to present your expertise in. Then, of course, make an ebook and sell it.

The wave is coming. You have about three years before it’s here. Possibly as much as 5 years, but it’s probably closer to 3. So I implore you! Get to work on your blog!

Personally, I’m working on creating several different blogs with the idea that each of them are gonna help my audience and put a little money in the pot. This very blog, for example, is aiming to make $1,000 per month. Maybe that doesn’t sound like a lot, but it is to me! I think I’ll hit the mark in January 2027. I’m in the building phase with little traffic, and that’s okay. Because when traffic turns on, I’ll have a ton of articles for them to enjoy!

I’m currently working on my money blog, which has nothing to do with money. But it is going to be my flagship and I’m carefully planning and building it. I think it will be ready to launch in 2027. I’m testing a lot of things on this blog and once I have this blog dialed in I’ll be ready to launch the flagship blog. I’ll definitely loop all of you in on that journey once it starts.

Then I’m also a fan of a few random blogs making anything from $500 – $3,000 per month. Like I said, the idea is to build a number of blogs and have all of them throw money in the money pot until I can buy my freedom, baby!

So, in closing:

  1. People love blogs and are searching for them.
  2. There is a tidal blogging wave coming and you need to catch it.
  3. Build up several blogs starting now (build them one at a time).
  4. Be ready to catch the wave and carry it for as far as it goes, baby!

If you don’t have a blog yet, you are in luck. I am a Bluehost partner, use Bluehost for all of my blogs, and highly recommend the platform. To start a blog you need 1.) hosting 2.) a domain. With my Bluehost affiliate link you will get the cheapest hosting rate available (just choose the cheapest option, it’s all you need) and it will come with a free domain. It’s a good deal.

Well, I hope to see all of you on the tidal blogging wave that is coming our directions. See ya later, I need to get back to work!

Blog on, friend. Blog on.
