Mindset has been quite the buzz-word for about a decade now. When I first started hearing it I thought it sounded cool but now when I hear it it sounds cringe. I was first introduced to it at the gym, it was used by big dudes lifting big weights to get bigger. It was about discipline. That’s when the word was cool and tough and meant something. But then the word was hijacked by pansy self-help gurus and lost all meaning. It started being associated with bubble baths and wine for “self-care.”
This article will be using “mindset” in reference to its original meaning.
8 Mindset Requirements For Blogging Riches
Embrace the eight core mindset requirements below for blogging success. They will take you far.
- Dedication To Learning The blogging craft could easily be a four year university degree, luckily blogging can effectively be self-taught through a mix of forums, books, free courses, paid courses, AI, and experience gained through action. The Rich Blogger will always be learning.
- Experimentation The Rich Blogger is always trying different approaches and strategies and doubles down when something works.
- Persistence The Rich Blogger does not give up, but rather pushes forward when there is yet no evidence of success, because the Rich Blogger knows success happens quickly, almost “overnight,” after years of hard work. Enduring suffering to build a successful blog is required.
- Aggressiveness There is nothing passive about the Rich Blogger, not even passive income. The Rich Blogger knows that’s not really a thing. It’s just delayed rewards for hard work put in years ago. The Rich Blogger defaults to aggressiveness in the blogging game. When in doubt, aggressiveness is the answer.
- Belief The Rich Blogger truly believes victory will be achieved. The Rich Blogger will not give up because he knows he is on the right path and as long as he does not give up he will achieve victory. The Rich Blogger knows victory will take between 3 – 5 years.
- Diversify The Rich Blogger understands that a home run with one website is unlikely, but rather multiple websites will need to be created and curated for success. The Rich Blogger understands he will have to have between 5 and 50 websites to achieve freedom via blogging.
- Discipline The Rich Blogger shows up every single day to the blog and puts in work. There are no days off. Days off can happen after victory is achieved. The Rich Blogger embraces discipline as a way of life.
- Vision The Rich Blogger holds the vision of success in front of him and works incredibly hard to make the vision and reality the same thing. There is a reason many top performers constantly talk about vision, it’s because it works. It tells the brain “this is what I need you to achieve” and then the brain says “okay.” Setting expectations is a must!
Mindset Assessment Check For Winning The Blogging Game
Answer Yes/No to each of the questions. If you have any “no” answers, that’s okay. That doesn’t mean you’re doomed. It just means you need to figure out how to turn the “no” into a “yes.”
-
Do you have a clear annual or monthly revenue target for your blogs?
-
Have you invested real money into your blog(s)? Either via tools, ads, education?
-
Are you able to overcome internal resistance to promote your blog?
-
Are you publishing consistently (at least three times per week) even when traffic and money is low?
-
Do you study other successful bloggers to figure out what they are doing to achieve success?
-
Do you have a lead magnet for your email list?
-
Do you have a set hours for working on your blog?
-
Have you heavily invested time into a third party platform to drive traffic to your blog?
-
Do you have a clear target audience that you are trying to help with your blog?
-
Do you believe you will win the blogging game, achieving full-time income and financial independence from blogging?
Again, nothing wrong with a “no” answer. That just means you need to figure out how to turn it into a “yes.” Look, if you’re a reader you have what it takes to make it blogging full time. Yes, there is a steep learning curve, as there is to all new things
Real Talk: Can Blogging Actually Make You Rich In The 2020s?
Yes, solo-bloggers are still regularly hitting $100k – $250k. Beyond that there is usually some type of team involved, even if it’s as simple has hiring contractors to handle the admin and behind the scenes work so the blogger can just cook. Certainly don’t compare yourself to seven-figure blogs with teams of writers!
It’s not easy money, though. As I say many times throughout this website, the only people who should be blogging for riches are 1.) People who love to write or 2.) People who like to write and are obsessed with a particular niche.
People who don’t like writing shouldn’t be bloggers. It’s amazing I have to type that sentence, but unfortunately there is still a lingering perception that blogging is easy money, which was somewhat true twenty years ago but is not true anymore. For the person that wants to make online money and doesn’t like to write, there are other avenues available to you. Blogging is not one of them.
Now for the person who loves to write, blogging is your highest-percentage play to achieve internet riches because you will stick with blogging, you probably won’t stick with trying to sell desks from a Shopify store, for example (that’s a real thing I tried.)
So, yes. For the lover of words, blogging can still make you rich and is the best path forward; it’s not easy, but you wouldn’t have it any other way, would you?
